DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Police say a Des Moines crash involving more than two vehicles has left one person dead and briefly closed down lanes of a busy interstate.

Des Moines police say the crash happened about 8:40 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 235. Officials closed off the westbound lanes of the interstate between 14th Street and University Avenue in Des Moines. Police say the lanes were reopened around noon.

Witnesses tell television station KCCI ( ) that a few vehicles were involved, and wood was scattered across the interstate in the crash.

Police have not yet released more information on the crash, including the name of the person killed. The crash remains under investigation.
