JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi senators have confirmed one person to a board overseeing Mississippi’s eight public universities and two people to the board overseeing K-12 education.

Dr. John Walter Starr was confirmed to a College Board term that lasts until May 7, 2024, representing the Northern District. Gov. Phil Bryant appointed the Columbus periodontist in May.

Jason Dean, a Madison aerospace executive, was confirmed to a state Board of Education term that lasts until June 30, 2024. Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves appointed the former education adviser to Gov. Haley Barbour to the board in September.

Arthur “Buddy” Bailey Jr., an assistant superintendent in the Rankin County school district, was confirmed to a state Board of Education term lasting until June 30, 2023. Bryant appointed him to the board in October.
