HILLMAN, Mich. (AP) - A public boat launch in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula is temporarily closing for repairs.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says Monday that the boating access site at Fletcher Pond in Alpena County will be closed while staff replaces damaged ramp planks.
The work is expected to take up to three weeks to complete and will start as soon as weight restrictions are lifted and repair equipment can used.
The reopening date will be announced later. Several private boat launches are nearby for access to Fletcher Pond, which is known for its pike, bass and perch. Many geese and ducks use the pond as a resting area and nesting platforms attract ospreys.
