GRETNA, La. (AP) - A woman and her former boyfriend have pleaded guilty to beating the woman’s mother to death in her Terrytown home and stealing her prescription medication in 2014.

The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1T1IBip) 36-year-old Misty Eiermann was sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter Monday, while 28-year-old Bryan Schwartz was sentenced to 20 years as a principal to manslaughter.

Judge Henry Sullivan accepted guilty pleas from Eiermann and Schwartz. Both had been charged with second-degree murder but worked out deals with the District Attorney’s Office.

Eiermann testified Monday that the pair were drinking and using drugs at the home of her 56-year-old mother, Mary Romano, when they decided to kill her to get her morphine and Xanax.
