CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Businessman Rich Ashooh is the latest Republican to join the race for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st District, seeking to oust incumbent Rep. Frank Guinta for the party’s nomination.

Ashooh was interim executive director of the Warren B. Rudman Center for Justice, Leadership and Public Policy at the UNH School of Law and a former top executive at defense contractor BAE Systems. He joins state Rep. Pam Tucker in the GOP race against Guinta, who went through a campaign finance scandal last year. The primary is in September.

In an online announcement video, Ashooh says he’s running to create a better future for his and other children. He says he’ll focus on the debt, jobs and national security. He unsuccessfully ran against Guinta in 2010.
