COLUMBIA, Ky. (AP) - Officials have identified a person who was found dead in a Columbia house fire.

Kentucky State Police said in a news release Monday that the woman was 41-year-old Sharon Austin of Columbia. Police said they were were notified Sunday afternoon that a body had been found in the ruins of a Columbia residence.

Police said the Adair County and Columbia fire departments responded to a vehicle fire at the same address the day before. It wasn’t until the next day that the owner of the home returned to the residence and located the body.

The investigation is continuing.
