ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - An Annapolis man has pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder for shooting an Arundel County Police officer during a scuffle outside a convenience store.

The Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Office said in a news release that 31-year-old Colvin White entered the plea Monday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say on April 10, 2015, Cpl. Larry Adams was on routine patrol when he saw White lurking beside a 7-Eleven in Cape St. Claire. Authorities say White fled and hid when Adams approached him, and ambushed the officer.

Prosecutors say White had a handgun and shot Adams once in the neck.

A sentencing date has not been set.
