BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Some Michigan schools are closed for the day after a spring storm left icy roads and snow across the state.

MLive.com reports some schools in Bay and Arenac counties were closed Monday, extending spring break for students in some cases. Snow and freezing fog were reported in the Bay City and Saginaw areas amid colder-than-usual temperatures.

Some parts of Michigan were left snow-covered as an early spring storm moved across the state over the weekend. Several inches fell in parts of western Michigan and the northern Lower Peninsula, while Detroit got a dusting but still had slick roads.

Such weather isn’t out of the ordinary for early April. The weather service says another system due to hit the state this week will bring more snow.
