SAN BENITO, Texas (AP) - Six teenagers have been arrested after 50 to 60 cars were vandalized over the weekend in the South Texas town of San Benito.

Police say the teens rode through neighborhoods in a truck Saturday night randomly spray painting cars and smashing windows.

Interim Police Chief Michael Galvan tells the Valley Morning Star in Harlingen (https://bit.ly/226dkQt ) that the teens sometimes jumped out of the back of the truck to go onto driveways to spray paint the cars. Other times, he says, they “would literally hang off the side of the truck and spray paint the cars as they went by real slow.”

They were arrested Saturday. He says one was 19, three were 18 and two were juveniles who were teens.

Galvan says a preliminary damage estimate is at least $39,000.
