TOWNSHIP OF GRANT, Wis. (AP) - The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says two young girls are dead after the vehicle they were in left the road and hit a tree.

A news release says the crash happened in the township of Grant. It says the sheriff’s office got a 911 call about the crash Saturday, and that an initial investigation indicates the minivan’s 23-year-old driver lost control on a patch of mixed snow, slush and ice.

The sheriff’s office says the van’s driver was flown to a hospital but the other occupants, her 5-year-old and 3-year-old daughters, were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver was wearing a seatbelt and the two girls weren’t restrained.
