ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A webcam focused on a pair of raptors in Colorado gained hundreds of views within hours of going live.

The Aspen Times reports (https://bit.ly/1N73kzM ) that the camera recording an osprey nest in Roaring Fork Valley was turned on Monday. The ospreys have nested at the same site for years, so Pitkin County officials are hopeful that the camera will capture the birds laying eggs, hatching chicks and rearing their young.

The nest is on a pole near an old Victorian house in Emma.

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies natural programs director Jim Kravitz says he expects the osprey cam to be popular, especially among residents and visitors of the Roaring Fork Valley.

Kravitz added that the website might need to include a disclaimer because what happens in the nest isn’t always pleasant.
