SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A California man imprisoned for importing and selling counterfeit Disney pins has been charged with killing an 18-year-old woman who went missing in 1976.

The Orange County Register reports Tuesday (https://bit.ly/1RZHhCl ) that San Bernardino County prosecutors filed a murder charge against 61-year-old Larry James Allred for the death of Cynthia May Hernandez.

Authorities say Hernandez disappeared after going to the movies in Covina in August 1976.

Authorities declined to immediately say what led them to link Allred to Hernandez.

Allred was sentenced to eight years in state prison after pleading guilty in 2013 to importing and selling counterfeit Disney pins over the Internet.

Orange County authorities say Allred has prior rape and kidnapping convictions.

Allred is currently being held at a state prison in Chino.
