FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A Fargo businessman and entrepreneur is the Libertarian Party candidate for North Dakota governor.

Marty Riske is the former chairman of the state’s Libertarian Party who owns numerous video stores and hair salons. He began his business career in 1971 when he founded a chair of waterbed and furniture stores in six North Dakota cities.

Riske says both the state Democrats and Republicans have allowed government to get too big and he will hire independent auditors to examine every agency in the state. Riske says he wants to keep more tax dollars in North Dakota and use the money for schools, infrastructure and communities.

Riske is a native of Grafton.

State Republicans have endorsed Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem for governor. Democrats are backing state Rep. Marvin Nelson of Rolla.
