ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Department of Transportation officials say the westbound lanes of I-285 are blocked after a crash involving nearly a dozen vehicles.

Officials say two tractor trailers were among the vehicles involved in the crash Tuesday afternoon just before rush hour on I-285 near Bouldercrest Road.

The scene is not expected to be cleared until about 5 p.m. Footage from local television stations showed that several vehicles had also overturned in the crash.

DeKalb Fire Rescue Captain Eric Jackson tells WSB-TV that four children and two adults were injured in the crash.

Drivers are asked to take alternate routes or plan for extreme delays. GDOT officials say the crash is also slowing traffic in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

The cause of the crash is unclear.
