SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Authorities say a human skull and bones have been discovered under a San Francisco building and police are investigating the case as a suspicious death.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1SNgMx8 ) Tuesday that the remains were discovered when a dry cleaning business in Lower Pacific Heights called in contractors to do plumbing work.

The contractors were digging underneath the building when they discovered a human skull and bones last Friday afternoon, the newspaper reported.

San Francisco Police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi says investigators are trying to determine whether the bones are from a man or a woman and if they belong to only one person.

City records indicate the building has been in the area for more than 100 years. It was not immediately known how long the bones have been at the building.
