PITTSBURGH (AP) - Just enough overnight snow has coupled with below-freezing temperatures to ice over several major arteries in Pittsburgh.

Commuters using Interstate 279 into the city from its north suburbs are facing major backups. Icy conditions have closed the northbound lanes of that highway - known locally as the Parkway North - and southbound traffic into the city is backed up for miles.

Delays are also being reported on Interstates 79 and 376 as well as Route 28, which connects the city to its northeastern suburbs.

Several minor accidents have been reported during the Tuesday morning commute.
