NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A woman has been charged after police say she attacked receptionist at the New Orleans City Hall after being denied access to a city council member.

The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1qravxV) 38-year-old Tamisha Bickman faces charges of aggravated battery and simple criminal damage to property following the alleged incident Monday in the City Council office suite.

Authorities say Bickman is accused of throwing a plastic cardholder at the receptionist after the receptionist informed her that the council member wasn’t available.

New Orleans Police spokesman Tyler Gamble says Bickman then hit the receptionist in the head and neck with a wooden coat rack.

Gamble says Bickman also threw a lamp toward the victim before she was restrained by others in the office.

It isn’t immediately clear if Bickman has an attorney.
