CONCORD, Calif. (AP) - A commercial airliner will soon start flying to Los Angeles and Las Vegas from a small suburban airport east of San Francisco.

The San Jose Mercury News reports (https://bayareane.ws/1Ydri23 ) Tuesday that for the first time since 1992, Concord’s Buchanan Field Airport will offer commercial travel service. The airport serves mostly small private planes.

Starting April 19, JetSuite will fly to Burbank Bob Hope Airport from Buchanan Field with three round-trip flights weekdays.

The carrier will also start service to Las Vegas on April 22, with a regular flight to Las Vegas on Friday nights and return flights to Concord on Sunday afternoons. JetSuit offers 30-seat jets to passengers.

Officials say the new service could deliver passengers to Los Angeles in the time it takes to travel to Oakland or San Francisco airports, get through security and make the plane trip.
