SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A part-time police officer has been ordered to stand trial on most charges in the shooting death of a man outside his northeastern Pennsylvania apartment.

Carbondale officer Francis Schulze is charged in Lackawanna County in the Feb. 2 death of 34-year-old Joe Molinaro of Fell Township.

The (Scranton) Times-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1RWOUXj ) reports that a judge dismissed one reckless endangerment count but upheld other charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

At the preliminary hearing, prosecutors played a 911 call in which the 25-year-old defendant is heard screaming at Molinaro to get on the ground and then telling the operator that he had shot him.

Defense attorney Corey Kolcharno earlier told reporters that his client heard screaming outside and wanted to make sure his child and his girlfriend’s child were protected.
