BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The University of Vermont Medical Center plans to lease office space in the new Burlington Town Center mall once it gains approval for redevelopment.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1PR3meO ) property owner Devonwood Investors LLC announced Monday that the hospital has signed a preliminary agreement to lease space to house between 300 and 400 administrative staff at the forthcoming mall.

Before any tenant can move into the new space, Devonwood needs to secure approval for the project from Burlington’s city council and the Development Review Board.

Hospital CEO Dr. John Brumsted says the deal helps UVM Medical Center secure cost-effective offices in downtown Burlington.

Devonwood officials hope to break ground on the mixed-use project by January. The hospital and the mall will negotiate a full lease in the coming months.
