HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for strangling her 65-year-old roommate.

The Herald-Mail reports (bit.ly/1TzG6ZE) that 41-year-old Leandra Blunt of Washington, D.C., was sentenced Tuesday in Hagerstown.

She also got a 10-year suspended sentence for withdrawing cash from the victim’s bank account with his stolen debit card.

Blunt pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder and a theft scheme stemming from the death of William Carter.

Carter’s decomposing body was found hog-tied and wrapped in plastic bags and blankets in his apartment near the downtown area in February 2015. Police say he had been dead for about 10 days.
