JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Court of Appeals denied motions for re-hearings in two separate Lee County cases.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1UVtDB3) 30-year-old Travon Brown, of Tupelo, was sentenced to two life sentences in late 2013 for the September 2011 shooting deaths of two people in a house in Tupelo. The high court affirmed the conviction and sentence last November.

Brown asked for a rehearing, saying the court erred in refusing the defense’s jury instructions.

Thirty-year-old Justin Springer, of Nettleton, was convicted of capital murder for a June 2008 burglary-robbery in Shannon. Springer appealed the conviction and life sentence, but the appellate court confirmed the circuit court decision in November 2015.
