NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Comcast is building a new customer support center in North Charleston that will mean more than 550 new jobs for the area.

Comcast announced on Tuesday that it is investing more than $21 million in the new facility that will provide support for telephone, internet and X1 entertainment system customers.

The company says the 80,000-square-foot facility should be operational by the second half of this year.

It’s the second customer service center Comcast will operate in the Charleston area. About 250 workers are employed at a center that opened early last year.
