WILMINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A southern Vermont private ski resort seeking to expand its members-only resort on Haystack Mountain is getting support from Wilmington officials.

Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/1RWO9xq ) that The Hermitage Club reached an agreement with the town that will pave the way for the town’s support of the club’s Act 250 application.

The company wants to develop more than 600 new residential units on the mountain through 2025, along with a parking garage and four new restaurants.

Under the agreement, The Hermitage will purchase an undevelopable piece of land from the town. The money will go toward affordable housing.

The company says it will keep the properties it owns in downtown Wilmington open to the public.

The District 2 Environmental Commission is reopening the Act 250 hearing this week.
