CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) - The U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs will address graduates of Robert Morris University near Pittsburgh.

Secretary Robert McDonald will be the commencement speaker for the May 7 undergraduate commencement ceremony.

The school based about 10 miles west of Pittsburgh began as primarily a business school with commuter students, but has grown into a multi-disciplinary university with a strong intercollegiate sports program.

McDonald was nominated as VA secretary and confirmed by the Senate in 2014. He formerly served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Procter & Gamble and is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

He was invited to speak by Christopher Howard, who became Robert Morris University’s eighth president on Feb. 1.
