FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Crews are searching the Rappahannock River for a 36-year-old man reported missing.

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman M.C. Morris Moncure says in a news release that deputies responded to the scene Sunday evening after a 911 caller had reported that a man had gone into the river and hadn’t returned.

Crews searched the shoreline but didn’t see anyone matching the man’s description.

Several agencies then joined to conduct a water, ground and air search that included the Fairfax County Police Helicopter, Fredericksburg Police and Fredericksburg Fire and Rescue.

The man wasn’t found.

Responders stopped search efforts when it became dark. The search is set to resume Monday morning.
