LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a 55-year-old California man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for traveling to Cambodia to have sex with young girls.

The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles said in a statement Monday that four girls who ranged from ages 8 to 11 when they were victimized testified at the six-week trial of Ronald Boyajian of Menlo Park. One of them testified that Boyajian had treated her like she wasn’t human.

Officials say Boyajian paid pimps and impoverished relatives for access to the girls.

They say he was on his 35th trip to Cambodia in nine years when he was arrested in 2009. He had resumed the trips shortly after completing his parole on previous convictions for sex with a minor in 1995.
