COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have been working to coax a man wanted for investigation of attempted murder down from a tree in Colorado Springs.

The Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2aDNYKi ) that police and a SWAT team were at the scene Sunday evening trying to get the suspect to come down.

Police say the man has a warrant for attempted murder and climbed up the tree to avoid officers who came to arrest him.

Members of the SWAT team had arrived to negotiate with the man when he had still not come down about an hour and a half later.

Police say they don’t know whether the suspect is armed and have evacuated several nearby homes as a precaution.
