WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities on Long Island are investigating the shooting of a man in an incident that ended with an officer being hit by a vehicle.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2af9alZ ) the incident unfolded late Saturday in West Babylon in Suffolk County. Investigators say a 21-year-old man was shot in the back at a large outdoor party. The victim is in stable condition.

Police say an officer was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene. His injuries aren’t considered life-threatening. No charges have been filed against the driver.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
