BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - District Court Judge Mike Salvagni has announced his plans to retire at the end of the year after 20 years on the bench in Gallatin County.

Salvagni, who is 69, announced his plans Monday. He says he’s also informed the Montana Supreme Court.

The Judicial Nomination Commission will take applications of those interested in replacing Salvagni and forward its recommendations to the governor.

Salvagni was first elected to the position in 1996 and was most recently retained in November 2014. He served as Gallatin County attorney from 1982-1996.
