PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a hazardous materials unit is investigating an unknown substance found on plane that landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport after a flight from Mexico.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say a hazmat crew was called out to the airport about 5 p.m. Monday.

Police say they were notified after a cleaning crew on the plane reported finding an unidentified powdery substance, and no adverse effects have been reported.

TV news footage shows several fire vehicles next to a US Airways Express plane parked at a Terminal 4 gate.

Sky Harbor officials say Flight 5644 arrived from Guadalajara, and crews are checking something out as a precaution.

They didn’t immediately provide any other details. But they say the situation wasn’t affecting arrivals or departures at the airport.
