CHARDON, Ohio (AP) - The State Highway Patrol says a trooper injured when he was hit by a car while he was outside his cruiser conducting a traffic stop has been released from a hospital in northeast Ohio.

The trooper was taken to a hospital after the crash on Friday on U.S. 332 in Geauga County. Officials at the patrol post in Chardon say the investigation was continuing Monday and no further details were available.

Geauga County Sheriff Lt. John Hiscox had said Friday that the trooper had pulled over near the intersection and was outside his cruiser when a third car crashed into the patrol vehicle and also hit the trooper.

Authorities say the driver whose car struck the trooper wasn’t injured.
