BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (AP) - Spartanburg County authorities say a 16-year-old youth is in custody in the death of a man who was shot in the car port of his home in Boiling Springs.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger tells local media outlets that 60-year-old George Kevin Rush was shot and killed about 6 on Monday morning.

The youth was arrested at the scene and deputies say while he was being taken into custody he kicked out window of a sheriff’s cruiser.

Authorities say that Rush was leaving for work when he was shot. They have not released additional details about the incident.
