GIBSON, La. (AP) - The Terrebonne Parish sheriff says a 26-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his father.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter says Joshua Resteivo shot and killed his father, Harold Short, 63. Larpenter announced the arrest on Monday.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/2adbHBA ) that deputies and detectives went to a home where the father and son lived at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday and arrested Resteivo. Officials say a witness reported there was a fight between the two in Resteivo’s bedroom before the shooting.

Resteivo was in the parish jail Monday on a $500,000 bond.
