STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - Law enforcement authorities in Sturgis say the fire that heavily damaged a local home and injured a woman over the weekend is being investigated as arson.

Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater tells the Rapid City Journal (https://bit.ly/2apvBnQ ) that the initial investigation shows the Saturday afternoon fire started in multiple points, substantially damaging the two-story house.

Vandewater says the woman who was injured is considered a suspect in the fire. Vandewater says the woman sustained burns on several parts of her body and is at a Rapid City hospital. Authorities have not released her name.

Sturgis Fire Chief Tom Trigg says two firefighters who battled the blaze Saturday had to be treated for heat exhaustion at a hospital.

The house sits across the Meade County courthouse.
