MILWAUKEE (AP) - Atlanta Braves starter Joel De La Cruz left after being struck by a hard grounder in the fourth inning of a game against the Brewers on Wednesday night.

Orlando Arcia’s comebacker nailed De La Cruz’s right knee. The ball deflected to first baseman Freddie Freeman, who tagged Arcia for the final out of the inning. De La Cruz hobbled off the field under his own power.

Chase d’Arnaud pinch hit for De La Cruz in the fifth, and Chaz Roe replaced him on the mound.

Atlanta says De La Cruz has a right knee contusion, and that X-rays were negative. He’s day to day.

De La Cruz allowed four runs and seven hits, including a three-run homer to Chris Carter in the third.
