NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Department of Commerce is giving the town of Golden Meadow $1.7 million toward a new wastewater treatment system.

A news release Tuesday quotes Secretary Penny Pritzker as saying it will help create a reliable regional water system that will serve local business needs.

The statement says the area includes about 150 residential and commercial properties, and was affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
