KENNER, La. (AP) - Officials say Gov. John Bel Edwards’ administration has come up with $10 million to start work on a flyover ramp that will link Interstate 10 to the new terminal under construction at Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner.

State officials tell local media outlets the full ramp project is expected to cost another $90 million, which has yet to be secured.

When it’s done, the new flyover ramp will serve as the main entrance for what’s been dubbed the North Terminal, a nearly $1 billion expansion of the New Orleans-owned airport.

The $10 million announced Tuesday will pay for design work, rights of way and other expenses.

Crews began work at the new terminal site almost six months ago.
