NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A 30-year-old man is dead after authorities say he was struck while trying to cross the southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike following an early-morning crash.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/2berEY5 ) Ning Ma was involved in a crash on the highway in Newark and attempted to cross the southbound lanes. That’s when state police say he was hit by a Kia Forte around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Jersey City man was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

No charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation.
