ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old who escaped a juvenile detention center in northern Nevada is back in custody after six weeks at large.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (https://bit.ly/2b6f6l6) that the teen walked away from the Nevada Youth Training Center near Elko on June 27. Officials say he was located in another state.

Social services chief Karla Navarro says the teen won’t be returning to the treatment center. He was originally committed to the facility in January because of a parole violation.

He was the sixth youth to escape this year. A seventh teen escaped in July and was captured within two hours.

A task force has recommended that teens likely to escape not be placed at the facility because of its proximity to a populated area.
