OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Some Oxford School District students were delayed on the first day of classes because of confusion over the school registration process.

The Oxford Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/2bdG4aS ) that about 50 children waited in hallways or gymnasiums while parents attempted to register them Monday, the day classes started.

The school district required all students to be registered online. After that step was complete, parents were told to bring residency documents and shot records to the school during July.

Superintendent Brian Harvey says some people registered their children online but didn’t bring the documents before the start of the academic year. Some thought their children were already registered if they had attended school in the district last year. Others thought their spouses had taken care of the paperwork.
