BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bismarck police say thieves are continuing to steal construction materials at the site of the new $70 million jail for Burleigh and Morton counties.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2aBtPVO ) that the most recent theft was four spools of copper wire worth about $2,000.

Police say the wire was in the building under construction in east Bismarck. Police say they don’t know how the building was accessed.

Police say thousands of dollars of construction materials have been stolen from the facility on at least four prior occasions.

Voters in Morton and Burleigh counties in June 2014 approved an additional sales tax to pay for the 475-inmate jail. It’s expected to start holding prisoners in early 2017.
