GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - Southern California authorities suspect two attempted child abductions were committed by the same person.

The incidents occurred Wednesday afternoon in Glendale within 25 minutes and a mile of each other.

Police Sgt. Robert William tells City News Service in both cases a person grabbed a child but was thwarted by each mother and fled in a car.

In the first attempt, the would-be abductor grabbed an infant out of a stroller. The suspect was described as a woman in heavy winter-style clothing.

The victim of the second attempt was a 2-year-old boy. His 8-year-old brother described the suspect as a man dressed like a woman. Their mother told police the suspect was a man in a gray shirt with a multi-colored design on the front.
