OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A 30-year-old Norman resident has drowned while swimming on Lake Thunderbird.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Michael David Dixon drowned Tuesday on the lake just west of Calypso Cove Marina in Cleveland County.

The patrol says in a report that Dixon was swimming back to shore from a marker buoy when witnesses watched Dixon go down and yell for help.

The patrol says the witnesses called authorities after they were unable to find Dixon.

The patrol says Dixon was not wearing a floatation device.
