STRATHMERE, N.J. (AP) - The Coast Guard has rescued four women who were swept out into the Atlantic Ocean while riding boogie boards.

The women were swept around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Strathmere.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew responded and lifted the women in pairs and transported them to Corson’s Inlet State Park.

Two good Samaritans in canoes who tried to help the women capsized, but were able to swim to shore themselves.
