BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A former patient at the Montana State Hospital has pleaded guilty but mentally ill to assaulting a nurse, causing her to suffer a traumatic brain injury.

The Montana Standard reports (https://bit.ly/2bkOkGn ) 31-year-old Ross Michael Robertson entered his plea to an aggravated assault charge Thursday before District Judge Kurt Krueger. Krueger did not schedule a sentencing date.

Attorney Greg Jackson said Robertson was being treated for schizophrenia and delusions at the Warm Springs facility in January 2012 when he became angry at a nurse who told him to change into the gray T-shirt he was supposed to be wearing to designate his status in his hospital unit.

Surveillance video shows Robinson push the nurse, causing her to fall backward over a chair and hit her head. After six days in the hospital, she was discharged to a rehabilitation program.
