GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A national expert on gender-based violence, aging and public health will speak to the Michigan Women’s Commission at its next meeting.

Cailin Crockett plans to talk about her work at the United Nations Development Program’s Gender Division on age-inclusive efforts related to women’s empowerment. She’s a special assistant for gender policy and elder rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The meeting is scheduled for Friday afternoon at Grand Valley State University’s downtown Grand Rapids campus.

The commission also is expected to discuss human trafficking, women veterans and female participation on corporate boards.

The meeting is open to the public.
