SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities suspect an inmate found dead in his prison cell might have been killed by his cellmate.

Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams said Thursday that officers found 33-year-old James C. Corbett lying dead in his cell late Wednesday night. He was in facility for inmates with mental health needs at the Utah State Prison in Draper.

He was taken to a hospital where he died. He was less than one month away from being let go.

Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell says the incident is being investigated as a possible homicide, and Corbett’s cellmate is a suspect.

Corbett was found guilty in 2007 of two counts of child sexual abuse. He was set to be discharged on Sept. 9.
