LONGPORT, N.J. (AP) - Officials in southern New Jersey say two people have been rescued after their kayak flipped in Great Egg Inlet.

The Press of Atlantic City reports (https://bit.ly/2aNNNde ) lifeguards pulled the kayakers from the water just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. They were taken in a Coast Guard boat to a fire department dock, where they refused medical treatment.

The Longport Beach Patrol says the inlet is dangerous and the seas there exceeded 6 feet at the time of the rescue.
