HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A California man has been sentenced to prison for trafficking heroin in Connecticut.

Connecticut U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly says 33-year-old Luis Cedillo, of Los Angeles, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Hartford to 84 months behind bars followed by four years of probation.

Cedillo pleaded guilty May 19 to one count of possession of one kilogram or more of heroin with intent to distribute.

Prosecutors say members of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Task Force were following Cedillo’s vehicle on November 14, 2013, when Cedillo stopped at a store and purchased items used to process and package illegal drugs. Authorities then followed Cedillo’s vehicle to a nearby garage, where officers searched the vehicle and discovered a trap in the trunk containing approximately six kilograms of heroin.
